Public Transit

Grand River Transit

While Grand River Transit doesn’t provide the level of transit one might expect in a large metropolis, since its inception in 2000 service has improved drastically, along with ridership. More and more people are choosing public transit (in conjunction with other transportation options) over owning and maintaining a vehicle.

Grand River Transit bus routes across Waterloo Region, two express routes, and the Mobility Plus service. Their website lists up-to-date fare and pass pricing, as well as routes and a transit map.

Intercity

There are a number of options for getting around outside of Waterloo Region. GO Transit operates bus and train service from Waterloo Region to Union Station in Toronto. VIA Rail operates train service from Kitchener, and there are a number of bus companies who run intercity service from Waterloo Region, such as Greyhound or Canadian Coach. Check at the bus terminal for schedules.
