Renting to Tenants on a Limited Income

Receiving a steady form of rent is an important part of being a landlord and forming trust in a potential tenant. Sometimes renting to those with an unknown source of income like OW (Ontario Works Social Assistance), or ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program), can feel like a risky decision when it is unfamiliar to you.

We at The Working Centre help individuals navigate the use of income systems such as OW, ODSP, EI, CPP-D, OAS and know that they are a steady source of income to pay for rent. Unfortunately there are often bad experiences, stigma, and negative assumptions that sometimes blur one's understanding of what living on a limited income can be like. It is our hope we can work together to understand better how some of these income sources can all be a steady source of money to help pay the cost of one’s rent.

Feel free to drop in or give us a call if you’re interested in talking more about what these income sources are, or what it means to be living on a limited income and trying to find adequate, safe, affordable housing.
