Volunteering: Maurita's Kitchen

Maurita’s Kitchen has been converted into a commissary kitchen that produces up to 700 meals each day. The meals are put in 12" x 12" stainless steel hotel pans that are then transported to St. John's Kitchen, the University Avenue Dorms, and the King Street Emergency Shelter. The kitchen is a lively hub of activity each day with the goal of producing large scale meals for those who are homeless or for those living in shelters. There is always work to do from preparing vegetables to buttering bread. The kitchen repurposes about 700,000 pounds of donated food from the Foodbank of Waterloo Region and prepares it for distribution.
