Join us for a panel discussion as local citizens discuss their experience with civic engagement and their thoughts on how healthy democracies require involvement in our public life by citizens who are more than just voters. Panelists have experience in organizations diverse as the Waterloo Voter Support Committee, the Waterloo Community Council, Compass Kitchener and the Working Centre.
Panelists will wrestle with questions like: What is the role of civil society in holding elected officials accountable? What does it mean to become engaged in a volunteer capacity? In what ways does civic engagement foster democratic practice?
Includes table discussions and Q+A with panelists.
Part of our Commons Conversations series, a fall series of lectures, panels and discussions at the Queen St Commons Café - 43 Queen Street South from 7-9pm.
