Do you find yourself reflecting on what it takes to balance grassroots community building and top-down systems thinking? Are you working in creative ways to foster community while buffering bureaucracy? Do you feel the pressure of trying to respond authentically to community, while also meeting funding requirements?
If this sounds like you…
Join us for 4 days in July as we collectively explore creative ways to nurture community and give it room to grow and flourish in a systems-focused world.
Community groups often face the dichotomy between creating a virtuous culture and maintaining an effective organization. Joe and Stephanie Mancini have been honing this art at The Working Centre since 1982. Deeply rooted in community, The Working Centre creatively practices the art of resisting institutional and bureaucratic thinking while maintaining organizational integrity through a decentralized yet integrated structure.
How do we create and sustain values-based organizations? How do we build structures without overdeveloping these structures? Come engage in dialogue and ideas exchange with Joe, Stephanie, and others embedded in the work of The Workingc Centre; share your experiences, listen to the experiences of others, and learn from and contribute to the philosophy and practices of The Working Centre in downtown Kitchener.
