Queen St Commons Café

About Queen St Commons Café

After a long hiatus, we are excited to announce the re-opening of Queen Street Commons! As we rebuilt the space, we kept the same charm and spirit as before, but with a new design to bring you into a bright and welcoming environment. We have kept the prices as affordable as possible to ensure everyone can access delicious vegetarian home-style meals, snacks, desserts, and fresh-roasted coffee. Simple and from the heart.

First opened in 2006, The Queen Street Commons Café has a long history of being an affordable and inclusive meeting place, where people from all walks-of-life gather in common. At a time when public spaces are diminishing, and our feelings of isolation and loneliness are growing, the Commons is needed more than ever. Rooted in our tradition of hosting, inviting people from all elements of life into the space to find new friendships, create micro-communities, and partnerships.

We understand one another more when we know each other and build on ways to engage and be together. We also find deep meaning in serving others, enjoying good food, good conversation, and a multitude of community events – music, film, debates, discussions, and more.

Our café enterprises are not-for-profit projects and are interconnected with our other work in Work and Livelihood hub, Housing and Shelter, and our integrated outreach services. You will find people working, making connections, volunteering, and finding a welcoming place to land across all these spaces.

Get Involved

Volunteers help to make this Café possible. Please contact us if you would like to volunteer, learn and be a part of the space.

The renovations to Queen St Commons mean that it will look very different, but it’s the still the place that many of us have known and loved. We invite everyone to come and help us to rebuild the spirit of QSC. It is the people that make the place come alive and we hope that you will join us!
