We are seeking a mature, responsible and energetic individual who is committed to strength-based, person focused care to join our team in the role of Intensive Housing Support Worker. This person will work as part of our Supportive Housing team.

** This is a full-time, permanent position. Hours will be based on a rotational schedule of days and evenings from Sunday to Thursday. **

Your key responsibilities include:
1. Responsible for individual housing stability and life skills support
2. Responsible for housing based harm reduction supports
3. Responsible for facilitating community inclusion activities
4. Responsible to refer, connect and liaise with community supports

Your skills and experience include:

1. University degree or minimum 3 year college diploma in social work or related social sciences is required
2. Experience providing harm reduction-focused addictions support and / or housing based mental health support is required
3. Passion to support people living on a low income with support needs
4. Experience in case planning/management with individuals and assisting them in developing life skills
5. Experience supporting group activities
6. Ability to work professionally as a team member with staff, tenants and community members
7. Excellent interpersonal, emotional intelligence and resilience skills.
8. Ability to work professionally as a team member with staff, tenants and community members
9. Respectful, supportive and engaging approach to persons with physical disabilities, addictions, mental health and other life challenges
10. Ability to work sensitively and effectively with people from various abilities, life situations and cultural backgrounds Current First Aid or willingness to obtain
11. Current food safety certificate or willingness to obtain
12. Valid G driver's license is required
13. Experience working within a non-profit and/or social services environment preferred
14. Commitment to understand and uphold the mission and values of House of Friendship is expected
Note: Working with and encountering participants who may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and/or experiencing symptoms of mental illness can be expected.
