Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Youth Justice Navigator is to provide support to youth in our community by connecting with youth and youth-oriented organizations, and supporting systems change by taking a lead role in promoting and advocating for restorative justice, restorative practice and upstream prevention.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide both leadership and support to the Youth Working Group towards the realization of a restorative region
- Provide consultation to increase community capacity for restorative justice, restorative practice and upstream prevention in services and initiatives involving youth
- Ensure that work plans and initiatives are developed and provided consistent with the mission and vision of Community Justice Centre and to the requirements of funding partners
- Provide regular updates to the Program Director on status of Working Group and work plans
- Promote the work of the Community Justice Centre in the community contributing to the evolution of restorative justice values and practices and emphasis on upstream approaches through public speaking and/or publications in partnership with the Region of Waterloo and consistent with the Communications Protocol
- Develop partnerships with other agencies, collaboratives, associations and grass roots community groups
- Provide consultancy to Community Justice Initiative's staff providing direct services.
- Oversee and/or provide training for volunteers and/or community partners.
- Oversee and/or provide public education
- Evaluate program quality and service

Skills and Competencies:
- Post-Secondary Education in the social services and/or experiential equivalent
- Understanding of restorative justice philosophy and principles
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and collaboration skills gain from experience working with youth
- Skill and comfort with public speaking and facilitation
- Highly flexible with the ability to work autonomously or within a group setting
- Experience in program design and evaluation
- Strong understanding of local communities and organizations that support youth
- Must have availability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
- Maintains personal and professional integrity, and handles confidential information with discretion
- Must have access to reliable transportation, a valid Ontario G class license and minimum $1M liability insurance
- Police reference check (including vulnerable sector) will be required
