Description:
Supportive Housing Worker

Are you someone who is attracted to the philosophy and action of The Working Centre & St. John's Kitchen?

We are hiring Supportive Housing Workers for our University Avenue housing.

University Avenue Housing is an innovative interim housing partnership between The Working Centre and the Region of Waterloo. We have invited people into this dorm style housing situation, and many of the residents have lived in housing or shelter for a number of years. They are a group who typically resists rules. We opened the dorms four months ago and this is an ongoing experiment that has been complex, but very successful.

We work within a trauma-informed, harm-reduction model. Through relationship, we navigate to find the best solution as problems emerge. The environment is lively, dynamic and requires staff to come with patience, kindness, and resilience.

We are looking to hire all shifts and especially overnight shifts.

Starting Wage is $18.14/hour for a 35 hour work week. As well, night shift workers receive an additional $1/hour. After 3 months of work, full-time employees qualify for a generous benefit-plan package.

The Working Centre is an exciting, dynamic organization. Co-workers come from all walks of life, a variety of cultural backgrounds, and an eclectic mix of age groups. We are constantly learning and are challenged in our work. We offer many flexible yet anchored work roles and a work environment that allows you to do meaningful, respectful and good work. Everyone's contributions are respected and valued as part of the whole. Most people make a choice to work for The Working Centre - we pay a little less than our counterparts and we offer a work environment that invites you to commit your strengths and your spirit in your work.
