We are seeking a person with experience in and a passion for coaching and developing people and teams to lead our dedicated and skilled team members in the Charles Street Men's Shelter program. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills as a program and people leader, with a track record of building and sustaining a safe and healthy work environment for all team members.
Your key responsibilities include:
1. Lead, develop and support the team of two (2) Shelter Supervisors and an overall team of 40+ team members.
2. Responsible for all aspects of operation of the program including program development and review, program budget, relationships with funders and community partners, staff and participant safety.
3. Build solid and fruitful relationships with community partners and agencies to increase opportunities for innovation and positively impact outcomes.
4. Represent House of Friendship at various homelessness/housing related meetings and community forums; bringing relevant issues and solutions to the conversation.
5. Act as a change agent; contributing to continuous improvement and the successful implementation of change initiatives.
6. Provide timely and appropriate programming to meet the needs of men experiencing homelessness
7. Responsible for the healthy and safe operation of the program
Your skills and experience include:
1. Strong skills in leadership, coaching and developing people and teams, team building and decision?making skills required.
2. A passion for and experience in housing and issues related to homelessness with a strong desire to support men experiencing homelessness and enthusiasm for assisting them to improve their circumstances
Full Time
3. University degree or College diploma in Social Work or Social Sciences or equivalent and relevant work experience
4. Demonstrated innovative approach to providing supports in a residential setting or services for persons experiencing homelessness is required
5. Excellent interpersonal, emotional intelligence and resilience skills.
6. Experience or strong interest in working with diverse populations including people from various cultural backgrounds and income levels, and sensitivity to their needs.
7. Strong organizational and communication skills, including computer skills are required
8. Experience working within a non?profit and/or social services environment preferred
9. Knowledge of local community agencies and resources is an asset
10. Experience in keeping financial records is an asset
11. Commitment to understand and uphold the mission and values of House of Friendship is expected
Working Conditions:
? 37.5 hours per week, with occasional pre-scheduled weekend and evenings shifts to observe shelter operations during all shifts
? Rotating management on-call responsibilities
? Working with and encountering participants who may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and/or experiencing symptoms of mental illness can be expected
