The successful candidate will be joining our team at our newly built facility in North Waterloo.

Job Role:
The Sharpener is responsible for preparing material for finishing engineered cutting dies and trim tools and sharpening of dies primarily used in the automotive and thermoforming (leather, rubber, wood, plastic) industry.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare material for finishing (measure, cut, debur, grind and hand file)
- Use of cutting equipment for finishing (band saws, shears, cut-off saws)
- Use of grinding equipment (cut-off wheel, belt sander, face-off wheel, grinding wheel, hand grinder)
- Use of measuring equipment (ruler, vernier, micrometers)
- Effectively communicate with supervisor and co-workers and work in a team environment
- Ensure that work area including machinery is clean and safe at all times
- Deal with changing priorities in a quick and efficient manner
- Work safely while maintaining productivity and ODC quality standards

Qualifications:
- Knowledge of different types of steel
- Working knowledge of various dies (plastic, regular, label, specimen, contour, plywood, etc.)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and set priorities
