The Working Centre - Waterloo School for Community Development

Certificates of Contribution to Community Development

From its inception, the Working Centre has been a breeding ground for grass-roots initiatives that typically involve weekly or monthly meetings or workshops for study and mutual aid toward specific aims: simple living, alternatives to violence, car-free transportation, urban agriculture, herbal gardens, transitional housing, homelessness, and so on. These initiatives, with varying degrees of regularity, formality, and duration, will continue. Participation in the more formal of such projects for a period of six weeks or more will henceforth be recognized by the award of a Certificate of Contribution to Community Development. The name of the project or initiative and the dates of its occurrence will be stated on the Certificate, and a record will be kept for each recipient. Individuals taking part in community development initiatives at the Working Centre over a period of years may receive a number of such Certificates, each subsequent one identifying all the initiatives in which the individual has participated, and when it took place.
