St. John's Kitchen operates largely through a volunteer workforce, 80% of which
are patrons themselves. Each day, St. John's Kitchen feeds approximately 280
people.

In an environment where people seem to have so little, there exists an immense
generosity - a reminder that people who find themselves living in poverty are
often not those responsible for their impoverishment.

Only because of the many volunteers at St. John's Kitchen does this wonderful
project succeed. Working at St. John's Kitchen is fun, rewarding and extremely
worthwhile. If you are able to help, volunteers are required from 8:00 a.m. to
2:30 p.m. for the following tasks:

- Set-up of room in morning
- Food preparation
- Serving on food line
- Kitchen clean-up
- Dishwashing
- Wall washing

- Washing tables and chairs
- Floor washing
- Window washing
- Bathrooms
- Outside cleanup
- Coffee pots

As well, we are always looking for volunteers for:
- Our Garden Community project (from planting to harvesting season)
- Picking up and doing a load of laundry (mostly kitchen towels) once a week and
- Numerous other duties. There is never a shortage of tasks requiring enthusiastic volunteers at St. John's Kitchen.
