Social Work in Waterloo Region is a bridge program for Internationally Trained Professionals to transfer your
skills into the Social Work field offered in cooperation with:

Thirty highly qualified, diversely skilled people have completed this rigorous program, with more
currently participating. They bring a wide range of experiences from their
home countries and are intentionally pursuing work in Waterloo Region. Program components include:
- Social Work Fundamentals; 50 hours; taught by Wilfrid Laurier Faculty of Social Work
- Practicum Work Placement; 140 hours; providing sector specific work experience; a wide range of community organizations provide these placements
- Career Path Series; 74 hours; an in-depth exploration of the Social Work sector, educational planning, and job search
- Advanced English for Social Work; 23 hours
- Computer Training; 60 hours; based on Essential Skills for Social Work
- Links to Mentors, Employers, Credential Assessments and Educational opportunities
We welcome your involvement in this project:
- Consider graduates of Social Work in Waterloo Region for any upcoming positions (either full-time opportunities or part-time contracts) you may be posting.
- Create a work-placement opportunity that builds skills and sector specific knowledge.
- Participate in information interviews; provide a tour of your social work workplace.
- Become a mentor.
- Participate in ongoing discussions about building diversity in the workplace.

Where and When We Are
Social Work in Waterloo Region is held at 66 Queen Street South, Kitchener.
Classes run Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00am to 3:30pm.
