The Immigrant Loan Program is offered in cooperation with Waterloo Region Immigrant Employment Network (WRIEN), The Working Centre and Libro Financial.

The project provides financial support assistance and access to loans of up to $5,000 for New Canadians to pay for training and certification costs to help find work in their profession or trade.

Expenses that may be covered by the loan include:

• Full or part-time training/education provided by an established educational institution
• Translation of documents
• Accreditation exams
• Professional licensing fees

Who can apply?

New Canadians of Waterloo Region who:

• Have education, skills and experience in their chosen profession from another country
• Have the English language skills necessary to gain employment in their selected field
• Are unable to obtain credit from traditional financial institutions
• Are highly motivated to succeed
