POSITION: Inclusion Facilitator (2 Positions) (JP 78)
SERVICE AREA: Member Services - Day Camp
LOCATION: Chaplin - Cambridge
REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor
HOURS: 37.5 hours, Contract (evenings and weekends as required)
SALARY: $10.00 per hour
START DATE: May 2010 September 2010
FUNCTION: To provide children with disabilities/challenges the opportunity to develop social, cognitive and physical skills through valued based programming.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
# To assist with the planning, organization and implementation of the daily camp program and off site excursions.
# Responsible for providing support to other camp staff in the area of behaviour management and program adaptation.
# Responsible for pre-camp phone calls to campers and their parents.
# Greet children and parents.
# Adapt programs and camp activities to meet the needs and abilities of participants.
# Communicate and share pertinent information regarding participants involved.
# Communicate in a professional manner with parents, guardians and caregivers. Provide feedback as required.
# Maintain confidentiality of parents, children and staff.
# Provide a safe, clean and enjoyable learning environment on and off site.
# Provide individual assistance to specified children with disabilities/challenges.
# Ensure only authorized persons remove children from camp setting.
# Ensure all attendance and camp records are completed.
# Communicate all issues and concerns to Program Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
# Education and/or experience related to working with children with a variety of special needs, including physical, developmental and behavioural.
# Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.
# Standard First Aid and CPR Certification
# Acceptable Police Check.
