POSITION: Afterschool Antics Program Instructors (JP 1102)
EMPLOYED BY: Kitchener-Waterloo YMCA
SERVICE AREA: Community Services
LOCATION: Kitchener-Waterloo
REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Afterschool Program
HOURS: Temporary fixed-term (evenings and weekends as required)
SALARY: $10.40 per hour
START DATE: September 2010
FUNCTION: Nurture and stimulate young children to want to learn and be an active participant in their environment. To build the childrens self-esteem, confidence & socialization from an early age.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
# To create a stimulating, fun environment and provide materials for children that will give them the opportunity to learn, be successful and grow as individuals.
# Responsible for communicating with parents as required to ensure excellent customer satisfaction.
# Ensures that a diversified program is developed with routines established that supports and nurtures the development of the child and provided support to parents.
# Set-up classroom for children resulting in an environment that will be welcoming with the various age appropriate games and activities.
# Prepare and set-up crafts and other art program(s) for children
# Ensure that prevention safety procedures are adhered to at all times (supervision fire, incident and accident forms etc.)
# Collect monthly fees and ensure that accurate records are kept of all payments.
# Attend workshops, trainings, conferences and staff meetings as required.
# Assumes other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
# High School
# 1- 3 months of related experience is an asset
# Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
# First Aid and CPR certification
# Knowledge of High Five or CATCH program an asset.
# Acceptable Police Check
