Description: The Literacy Group of Waterloo Region is accepting applications for the following 8 month project (March 31, 2010 to October 29, 2010).  
 
This is a part time contract (approximately 20 hours per week) to research, write and revise a curriculum focused on developing Essential Skill with our employer partner MW Canada Ltd (Montreal Woollens) called "Using Computer Technology in the Workplace." The Writer/Researcher will complete the curriculum package on time and to the satisfaction of the Project Supervisors, Carol Risidore, The Literacy Group and Melanie Alexander, MW Canada. Maximum payment for the contract is $30,000.  
 
Qualifications:  
# Proven curriculum writing skills and experience with adult learners  
# Excellent research, communication and organizational skills  
# Knowledgeable about adult literacy programs and best practices  
# Knowledgeable about various adult computer curriculums including e-learning  
# In-depth knowledge and experience with Essential Skills and task analysis  
# Ability to work independently to meet deadlines  
# Respect for colleagues and their expertise  
# Postsecondary education in a relevant field and/or equivalent professional experience  
# High degree of personal integrity and pride in your work  
 
Responsibilities:  
# Develop an original curriculum package which includes current computer sources with articulated outcomes  
# Ensure the curriculum takes real life tasks and develops these skills towards workplace tasks related to manufacturing task/occupations  
# Ensure the curriculum is linked to the LBS and Essential Skills matrices  
# Conduct Essential Skills research and task analysis of real life activities for integration into the curriculum  
# Support communications with the Field-test sites and integrate feedback into the final version of the curriculum  
# Support other project activities as required (desktop publishing, promotion and evaluation)  
# Work in cooperation with the Project Coordinators, Field-test Site Coordinators, content readers and all other relevant staff and participants  
# Record and report project activities and communications as required  
# Work in cooperation with all project partners (participants, agencies, individuals, etc.)  
 
 
Project Goal:  
Using Computer Technology in the Workplace is a project that is focused on developing Essential Skills Computer Curriculum (basic computer skills, integrating essential skills through technical training) and field testing it with employees of MW Canada Ltd. The curriculum would focus on using real-life workplace activities (i.e. using the inventory system, setting up machines, etc.) and bridging the gap to make them realistic to skills related to job requirement s of employees based on NOC codes for those specific positions and MW Canadas requirements.
