REPORTS TO: Director, Early Years  
HOURS: Full Time - Contract  
SALARY: Under Review  
START DATE: July 2010  
 
FUNCTION: To develop and deliver quality programs and services to the community for children 0-6 years of age and their families through an Early Years Centre - providing support services, information and consultation to parents, caregivers and children through a coordinated community delivery system.  
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:  
# Supervise the operations of the Early Years Centre including staffing, marketing, programs and service provisions and adhere to and promote YMCA mission, vision and values as well as Provincial requirements.  
# Identify gaps in service delivery. Develop and implement action plans to minimize the gaps.  
# Provide and make available educational and safe quality toys and resource materials for children ages newborn to school age.  
# Provide leadership, training and direction to the staff and volunteers in the delivery of services.  
# Prepare and present performance appraisals for staff.  
# Act as a support and resource to the families providing referrals to agencies for issues related to family needs, care of children etc.  
# Develop and maintain connections with community partnerships and engage them in working cooperatively and collaboratively to deliver services to the community for the Waterloo Region OEYC Delivery System.  
# Research, document and maintain database of information on existing community programs and services.  
# Participate in financial assistance arrangements for programs and services.  
# Manage administration responsibilities (staff/volunteer records, timesheets, course inputs additions, deletions waiting lists, inventory etc).  
# Complete quarterly financial (year to date) reports and service data collection sheets and prepare annual budget request and submit to the Provincial Government.  
# Assist in the preparation of the annual budget followed by monitoring the approved budget, coding revenues/expenses, preparing a monthly report on the budget, purchasing new equipment/supplies, recommendations and purchases according to budget guidelines.  
# Maintain effective communication and promote a professional and approachable image with all members, participants, volunteers, staff and community contacts.  
# To be involved in direct programming for the site on a regular basis.  
# Attend workshops, trainings, conferences and staff meetings as required.  
# Assumes other duties as assigned.  
 
QUALIFICATIONS:  
# Completion of Community College ECE diploma or equivalent  
# CECE Membership required for qualified ECE candidates  
# Advanced computer knowledge of Microsoft Office  
# Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills  
# First Aid and CPR certification  
# Acceptable Police Check  
# 2-3 years of related experience in a supervisory role.
