POSITION: Supervisor, Afterschool Antics (JP 1049)
EMPLOYED BY: Kitchener-Waterloo YMCA
SERVICE AREA: Community Services
LOCATION: Kitchener-Waterloo
REPORTS TO: Director, Community Outcomes
HOURS: Full Time - Contract
SALARY: Under Review
START DATE: June 2010
FUNCTION: Responsible for providing leadership, coordination, supervision and quality delivery of the YMCA recreational Afterschool Antics programs throughout Kitchener-Waterloo.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
# Responsible for hiring, orientation, supervision and evaluation of staff and volunteers.
# Responsible for staff training and development to generate knowledge and understanding in areas such as child guidance, programming, activity ideas and resources.
# Maintain accurate records registrations, fees, and attendance.
# Conduct regular site visits to ensure quality programming, effective communication with staff, supervision of staff and act as a role model.
# Facilitates appropriate and timely solutions when conflict arises (parent, staffing etc.)
# Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents and external site contacts
# Responsible for maintaining positive public relations
# Conducts regular centre staff meetings.
# Attends professional development workshops, organizational meetings
# Direct involvement in the preparation of annual financial plan.
# Monitor the established annual financial plan to ensure the area is achieving targets (Financial, Enrollment, Staffing). Identifying variances and areas of concern to supervisor.
# Order and monitor site/program supplies to maintain a level of quality materials to be used within the programs by the children.
# Attend workshops, trainings, conferences and staff meetings as required.
# Assumes other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
# Completion of Community College diploma in areas of Child Development, Psychology and Youth Recreation
# CPR and First Aid certification
# Acceptable Police Check
# 2-3 years of related experience in a supervisory role.
