Our CSA shares are provided by a collection of family farmers from the Wellesley area. While some growers are certified organic, all of our growers follow the same ecological growing method. The CSA model provides the growers with a guaranteed market for their produce and they fill their boxes with a selection of the produce that is growing in their gardens.

Almost every box is different and CSA members are encouraged to come early to choose their box. We encourage members to swap recipes and ideas of how to use the produce they receive. Our recipes are posted and available on The Commons Market website.

We are now accepting applications for the 2010 growing season!

Full Share (weekly): $500 per season (3-4 people): 20 boxes at $25.00 per box
Half Share (bi-weekly): $250 per season (1-2 people): 10 boxes at $25.00 per box
Pickups: Wednesdays from 4pm-6pm at 43 Queen Street South

Whole Food Box Member Responsibilites:

  1. All Boxes must be pre-paid at the beginning of the season. Payments can be made in full or by instalments when you send in your registration.
  2. All Boxes must be picked up during the Wednesday 4pm-7pm Market Day. Boxes that are not picked up will be donated to The Working Centre’s kitchens or to people living on a limited income. Unfortunately, we do not have the facilities to store orders overnight, but you are welcome to have a friend pick up your box for you – just let us know in advance!

The Commons Market

The Commons Market is a creative community market that supports a group of local farmers who are working to create sustainable livelihoods. We do this through CSA shares and a pre-ordered market. By joining The Commons Market we can support these growers while learning to build our eating habits around the food that can be grown locally. As we eat what growers produce we can discover new recipes and ideas around food that helps us to understand what it means to eat local.

The Market is a great way to supplement your CSA boxes or to order bulk quantities of vegetables. In addition to produce, The Commons Market also offers fresh bread, cheese, meats, and dried goods. Check out The Commons Market page for more information.
