Computer Assessment Centre

The Working Centre offers skills assessment tests that can help to determine readiness for a particular computer course. An assessment test can be used to determine knowledge of the given course, certification readiness and areas for improvement. Test formats include multiple choice, true and false, drag and drop, and interactive simulation. All tests are timed and from this we can gather information such as moments of hesitation on a specific objective.

Typing/Keyboarding

Participants are gauged in both speed (as words per minute) and accuracy (as a percentage).

Introduction to Computers

In Introduction to Computers the five areas of study are common hardware, basic Windows skills, getting help, creating a document, and working with files. Many novice, self-taught individuals may be interested in this type of assessment to find areas that have not been explored. Our Introduction to Computers assessments are also the starting point in determining whether a candidate already has this knowledge or would benefit from the course.

Internet and Core Computing Certification (IC3)

Our assessment questions are derived from the IC3 curriculum of each of the three sections: Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications, and Living Online. Students are asked to perform tasks that determine their knowledge of fundamental computing, such as file management, folder navigation, identification of computer components, software and Internet use. Exercises have been developed to reflect both current knowledge and the ability to learn new skills. This assessment is designed to test working knowledge and skills primarily used in an office environment.

Microsoft Office

Microsoft has developed a set of standards for measuring knowledge and efficiency in using their Microsoft Office products. Candidates are required to complete questions that are based on the objectives of the set Microsoft curriculum. Questions are incorporated inside the working interface of the corresponding application, such as Microsoft Word or Excel.
