Introduction to Computers

The Introduction to Computers course is designed to provide the fundamental knowledge of computers to students who have had little or no computer experience. The course also provides students with some computer knowledge, the opportunity to understand the terminology and gain the confidence needed for future courses. This is an 8 week, in depth course that teaches common hardware used with a PC, basic Windows skills, such as working with the desktop and windows, creating and managing documents, file and folder navigation and management, and how to obtain help when needed.

        Navigating with Windows, the desktop, and applications
  • Creating a Document
        Creating, opening, saving, simple word processing documents
  • Working With Files
        Navigating and managing files and folders
  • Getting Help
        How to use an application's help system

Classes in 2008:
January 16 – March 5
March 19 – May 7
May 21 – July 9
July 23 – September 10
September 24 – November 12

All classes are on Wednesdays from 4:00pm-7:00pm (3 hours/week total)
